More Wang For Your Buck

He's only 24, and he launched his women's collection just last year, but Alexander Wang's already won the Ecco Domani Emerging Designer Award and been nominated for the 2008 CFDA Women's Wear Designer of the Year Award. From formal to casual, edgy to elegant, until now the only predictable thing about the New York-based designer's clothes was their high fashion price tag. But now, Alexander is threatening to take even that rock of stability away from us -- and we couldn't be happier about it.
He's just revealed that, as well as the promised shoe collection he has in the works, he'll be coming out with a diffusion line for spring 2009. To be more specific, it's a line of tees called T by Alexander Wang. The name won't be the only economical thing about it, either: Wholesale prices will start at $28 for a top. Even allowing for the retail daylight robbery -- sorry, perfectly reasonable mark-up -- that should still translate to affordable fashion for the realistic of budget.
Even more surprisingly, it seems that Alexander's shoes won't be wildly out of reach either. Prices are set to range from $125 to $250, which is a fraction of what a pair of, say, Stellas would set you back. McCartney, not Artois, of course.
What do you think of Alexander Wang's style?
