It's difficult these days to remember what Britney Spears is famous for, so just in case you're struggling: she was a singer when it all began (we know, right?). Known more in the last two years for her out-of-control personal life and continuing court battles, Britney has slowly been making a respectable return to the public eye -- but oddly, as an actress.

Two appearances in the CBS comedy "How I Met Your Mother," in which she exceeded everyone's (admittedly, low) expectations, might have earned Brit the attention of director Quentin Tarantino. UK paper the Daily Telegraph reports that he's considering the pop star for the lead role in a remake of the 1965 camp classic, "Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill!"

The original, directed by Russ Meyers, follows three strippers on a road trip who meet up with a couple in the desert, murder the boyfriend, and take the girlfriend hostage. A source tells the Telegraph, "Quentin is convinced Britney will be brilliant. She's delighted. She thinks it could turn her career around."
