Here's one rumor that's true. Beyonce Knowles and Jay-Z (aka Shawn Carter) were married Friday night in a small ceremony at the rapper's New York City apartment building. Among the guests were family and friends like Gwyneth Paltrow and Coldplay singer Chris Martin, plus B's Destiny's Child mates Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams.
"Crazy in Love" for almost six years, the couple made no official statement, but sources close to them confirmed the wedding, as did Jay's current tour mate, Mary J. Blige. On stage the next night in Greensboro, North Carolina, the Queen of Hip-Hop Soul acknowledged the newlyweds: "Congratulations to my man Jay-Z and my girl B," Mary said before singing "All I Need."

As reported, the lovebirds took out a marriage license last week. Flowers and silver candelabra were delivered, and a white tent went up on the roof of Jay's building. White was the theme: Of course the bride wore a white gown and a flower in her hair -- but female guests, including the newlyweds' mothers and Beyonce's sister Solange, also wore white. And 60,000 white orchids decorated the space.
"It was amazing -- very special, very private, very intimate. Everyone had so much fun. It ended up being a wild party," said one guest. The two dozen invitees boogied to hip-hop well past 4am.
The wedding date had a special meaning for Beyonce, 26, and Jay-Z, 38. Both were born on the fourth of the month (she in September, he in December) and consider four their lucky number -- hence the matching IV tattoos on their ring fingers. That's sweet, but we can't help wondering why they rushed a wedding in the middle of Jay's tour, when they'll have to postpone a honeymoon. Is there a baby bump in B's future?
