"So Ready" to Return
April 14, 2008 8:43 PDT By Daniel R. Coleridge
Sometimes we can't verify a story, but it sounds so good we just have to share. We don't know if this story is true, but folks are talking about it and we want you to know about it!
Talk about a cliffhanger: When Victoria Rowell exited "The Young and the Restless" last year, her Drucilla Winters character plunged off a precipice and into the raging river rapids below. Since Dru's body wasn't found, the show clearly meant to keep the door open for Dru's return.
"The fans on the road don't ask if I'm coming back to 'The Young and the Restless,' they ask WHEN I'm coming back," insists Victoria, who's been on a book tour promoting her foster-child memoir, "The Women Who Raised Me."
What nobody expected was that "The Young and the Restless" would bring back Dru without her. Nevertheless, the show recently put out a casting call for the role, specifically requesting a Victoria Rowell look-alike.
"I never said that I would never go back," Victoria explains. "The ball has always been in 'Y&R's' court. I am at the bottom of that cliff, and no one from 'Y&R' has sent me down a lifeline to pull me back up the side of that mountain. I am SO ready to climb back up!"
"The fans deserve that reward after a year of waiting," the actress continues. "No one from 'Y&R' has called me to invite me back."
A spokesperson for "The Young and the Restless" said the show doesn't comment on contracts, rumors, or storyline info. However, the insider buzz is that the show isn't actually seeking a full-time recast for Dru; it only needed someone to fill in for some flashback scenes that will feature Dru's daughter, Lily, at age six.
Should "The Young and the Restless" bring Drucilla Winters back from the dead? If so, could you accept a recast -- or is Victoria Rowell the one and only Dru?
