Here's your first look at new "One Life to Live" character Brody Lovett, played by Mark Lawson (he debuts on April 24). We've been hearing Brody's name a lot lately: He's the Navy SEAL who Gigi (Farah Fath) claims is son Shane's (Austin Williams) daddy, rather than Rex (John-Paul Lavoisier). Small problem: Brody's not dead.
He also hasn't shaved in a while, but he'll be clean-cut soon. (No offense to those who like the scruffy look.)
Anyway, when Dorian (Robin Strasser) and Layla (Tika Sumpter) first find Brody, he's drunk and in a bar fight. Snooty Dorian's reaction is priceless, but actress Robin was anything but a priss for those scenes. "Robin's been great," says Mark. "She helps me out, making sure I get the right camera coverage and all that. She's the best."
Brody's Baby Mama Drama
Dorian -- under orders from her daughter, Rex's jealous fiancee Adriana (Melissa Fumero) -- tells Brody he has a son. Seems Brody never knew: When he got back from serving in Iraq, his mother told him Gigi had moved on, and she also told Gigi that Brody had died. This little tidbit sent Brody into a hard-drinking life: "When he finds out this [lie] ... any stability he had gets yanked out from under him," says Mark. "He's living day to day, bus stop to bus stop."
Pretending to be concerned about Gigi, Dorian tells Brody he needs to come back to town and reclaim his ex and his son. Which is what Adriana wants, since it will get Gigi away from her man.
But when Brody comes to Llanview -- that's when the REAL story begins.
Stay tuned for next week, when we'll have Mark Lawson's exclusive first Q&A since joining the show.
What do you think is in store for Brody in Llanview?
