Renee Goldsberry: Back to Broadway

Do you miss whip-smart and vocally gifted lawyer Evangeline Williamson (Renee Goldsberry) on "One Life to Live"? So do we! When last seen in 2007, Evangeline fell victim to psychotic racist Tate Harmon; when he gassed Cristian's (David Fumero) apartment, Evangeline got caught in the crossfire and ended up in a coma. She's been off-screen ever since, recovering at her parents' home. She's mentioned by her sister, Layla (Tika Sumpter), or by Cristian, only occasionally.

But if you're craving some Evangeline, you can now get more of her portrayer, Renee Goldsberry. She's joining the cast of the long-running musical "Rent" on Broadway; she'll play Mimi, the stripper/drug addict with a penchant for fishnets, and she'll take the stage on June 16. Unfortunately, this is the show's last season on the Great White Way -- it closes in September -- so you better get your tickets now!

Renee's no stranger to Broadway. She starred as Nala in "The Lion King" and originated the role of Nettie in Oprah Winfrey's "The Color Purple."

On a side note, we loved John (Michael Easton) and Evangeline together. Jovan forever! Although she had great chemistry with Todd (Trevor St. John) and Cristian, we were all about Jovan!
