With the Memorial Day debut of her new E! reality show, "Denise Richards: It's Complicated," looming, Denise Richards is peddling her real-life divorce drama all over TV. She took her headline-ready verbal war with ex Charlie Sheen to "Today" and "The View" Wednesday morning.
The latest? Charlie is accusing Denise of sending an email after their split to his now-fiancee Brooke Mueller, requesting a donation of his sperm so she could have a third child. "The email's not legitimate, it's a doctored email," Denise told "Today" host Matt Lauer. "Any chance that Charlie gets to discredit me, he does it. I don't use drugs, I'm not an alcoholic, I'm not promiscuous. I'm a good mom."
Denise said she was dealing with her mother's terminal illness at the time of the alleged email, and wouldn't have been thinking of having another child -- "especially with my ex-husband while I'm going through a very bitter custody battle and divorce," she noted. "He's the father of my children, but Charlie is a stranger to me at this point."
Charlie's Rebuttal
Charlie, meanwhile, calls allegations that he doctored the email "absurd." "The mere fact the she continues to publicly discuss and harass both Brooke and me three years after our separation which, for the record is longer than the actual length of the marriage, is beyond desperate and speaks volumes," Charlie said in a statement to "Today." The pair, whose split topped the "Today" show's "Nastiest Hollywood Divorces" list, continues to battle over custody of their two daughter -- Sam, 4, and Lola, 2; they're set to appear on the reality show with Denise.
As for Charlie's insistence that she's exploiting their children, "When I originally approached Charlie, he didn't have a problem," Denise said. "He signed the waiver that I needed. But then he changed his mind and wanted me to change our custody stipulation. I prefer to keep all this private. But I have two little girls and I've had everything written about me. I want people to see me for me, and then write what they want."
She said she has no animosity towards her ex, despite their fighting words. "I'm not out here to bash Charlie, he's still the father of my kids," Denise said. "Going through a divorce is devastating. Our situation is very public, it's embarrassing, it's humiliating. I really have to look at myself as a mom protecting my children."
