Brits Get to Shop "City" Style

Hey, "Sex and the City," where's the love? Your loyal fan base in the U.S. has barely forgiven you for having the world premiere of the movie in London, and then you go and give us another reason to think that you're just not that into us. Word is out that trailblazing "City" costume designer Patricia Field is launching a line of affordable women's fashion -- for British retailer Marks and Spencer.

Pat Field is best known for her over-the-top, theatrical fashion sense -- not just because of the wild and wacky outfits she put on the Fab Four, but also because of her recent line of clothing and accessories, Barbie by Patricia Field, inspired by the buxom plastic doll.

So we're curious to see how Pat's fashion persona will mesh with Marks and Spencer, or M&S as the Brits like to call it. Despite valiant attempts to up its style cred in recent years, the store's default look is somewhere between Banana Republic and the contents of your grandmother's closet. Will Pat Field manage to convince English matrons in search of sensible gardening pants that what they really want is a leopard print mini? Only time will tell -- the line won't be out until October.

For now, Pat's describing it as "Destination Style New York" -- proving once again that fashion genius and verbal clarity rarely go hand in hand. Whatever. Come home and dress America, Pat. They already have Topshop -- we need you.

Do you think Patricia Field's style is awesome or over-the-top?
