We're bummed. Leven Rambin -- the talented young actress who has portrayed autistic Lily Montgomery (and, for a while, her look-alike half-sister, Ava Benton) on "All My Children" since 2004 -- is leaving the show.
The actress issued the following statement to Soap Opera Digest and Soap Opera Weekly about her exit: "First of all, I want to thank you all from the bottom of my heart for your unwavering support of me and my characters over the past 4 years. As you know, I started 'All My Children' when I was extremely young ... It has been such an amazing forum for me to grow as a person and an actress. I was so fortunate to be in such an environment for the past 4 years. But, alas, much like my peers who are graduating high school around this time, it's time to move on ... I will always look back on my experience there fondly. I feel it is time for me as an actress to expand and have new opportunities, and I thank 'All My Children' for respecting my decision ... I have come to an understanding that soap fans are unlike any other; dedicated, passionate, and loving. I am honored to have you all rooting for me."
Since arriving in Pine Valley, and quickly grabbing an Emmy nomination, Leven (and Lily) has been a fan favorite. Lily is truly unique -- one of the few characters with a disability ever featured on daytime -- and Leven has helped capture Lily's kindness and curiosity in a way that you can't help but be endeared by. Remember when Lily, whose autism makes inappropriate social questions commonplace, had a crush on Aidan (Aiden Turner), so she kept asking everyone about sex?
Outside of Pine Valley, Leven has started to become a household name. In addition to roles on "The Book of Daniel" and "Lipstick Jungle," she's evolved into an NYC fashionista -- frequently seen at parties and fashion shows. Sort of like the anti-Lily. She's even recording music.
Look for Lily to finally achieve her dream of going to MIT, which takes her out of town for the foreseeable future. She last airs on June 10.
On a side note, many have asked what happened to Ava. One day she just seemingly disappeared. In a blink-and-you-missed-it moment, the Fusion women discussed how she was out in Hollywood, testing her luck. Or driving people crazy. Or both.
