Telenovela Time

Are telenovelas the new British hits? While stealing from our friends across the pond has become a time-honored TV tradition, the success of "Ugly Betty" has programmers running for the border.

Variety reports that Fox is developing a pilot based on Argentinean show "Lalola." The show turns the tables on its main character, a womanizer who is somehow swapped into a female body and forced to endure the attentions of men like him.

So ... it's like when Tyra put on a fat suit. But funnier, and for more episodes.

The series was pitched by Kevin Falls, most recently a writer on "Journeyman" -- in character. Oh, to be a fly on the wall ...
