All-Black Italian Vogue

The new black is ... black. At least that's what they think over at Italian Vogue, and those Italians know a thing or two about style. The magazine is addressing the entrenched and usually unacknowledged racism in the fashion world by featuring only black models in its July issue.

Word is out that Liya Kebede has nabbed the mag's cover spot, while Jourdan Dunn, Naomi Campbell, and Chanel Iman are just a few of the gorgeous faces to be found inside. Franca Sozzani, editor of Italian Vogue, says she was inspired by Barack Obama's campaign, while photographer Steven Meisel told the New York Times that he was frustrated by the under-representation of black women in the media, saying: "I have asked my advertising clients so many times, 'Can we use a black girl?' They say no."

Meisel's pictures take up 100 pages in the magazine, due to come out this Friday (yes, things happen a little slower over there. Blame the pasta). As well as casting Tyra Banks, Meisel also shot Toccara Jones, the plus-size model from Cycle 3 of "America's Next Top Model."

Now, which magazine is going to be the first to come out with an issue featuring only models with real curves?
