No Crocs and cut-offs for this crowd: The pint-sized fashionistas on the runway in Dubai right now are sporting designer labels like Moschino and Kenzo for the city's Children's Fashion Week.

Now, we can't fault parents with stupid amounts of money for wanting to spend it on their little darlings. And admittedly, dressing kids in high fashion is way more classy than the horror of the beauty pageant circuit. But really, when they outgrow clothes within months, and some children in the world don't even have food, can anyone justify spending mega-bucks on kiddie couture?

Dubai is, of course, the perfect location for this slightly creepy style fest. The emirate, home to some of the world's wealthiest tycoons and their families, is fast becoming a fashion capital.

Calvin Klein, Zac Posen, and Roberto Cavalli were all in town recently. Armani and Lacroix are two of the big names designing hotels there, and Karl Lagerfeld just announced that he'll design 80 residential units on Isla Moda (Fashion Island), part of the man-made archipelago in the Arabian Gulf known as The World. Anyone with a spare $50 million can purchase one of the islands -- Jay-Z is said to be among the more famous owners.

Move over, Manhattan: Isla Moda will be the world's only island officially dedicated to fashion.
