And the fantasy becomes a reality! It's all coming together now, fellow "90210" addicts. Joe E. Tata -- that's right, good ol' Nat himself! -- revealed to the AP yesterday that filming has begun on the premiere episode of the CW's "Beverly Hills" revamp, which is set to debut September 2.
He'll be manning the counter at the Peach Pit in the first episode, but sadly, Joe doesn't know if he'll be back. "The coin's in the air for me," the 71-year-old actor said. "I guess it comes under the heading of magic test: Let's see if the audience still remembers me."
Aw, Joe, how could we forget? After all, who else would've hired Brenda as a waitress knowing how much it would rankle Brandon? Or let Steve turn the Peach Pit into a club after-hours? That's right -- only Nat!
But apparently, we're not the only ones who remember. "Cops and firefighters say to me, 'I used to watch the show -- I mean, my wife did, or girlfriend,'" Joe told the AP. "But they knew more about the show than I did."
Meanwhile, back at West Beverly High (aka Torrance High School!), Jennie Garth will be reprising her turn as Kelly Taylor, now a guidance counselor! So how's Jennie gonna handle the imminent return of her reported nemesis, Shannen Doherty? The pair once got into a fistfight on set, according to pal Tori Spelling's 2007 autobiography, "sTORI Telling."
Lucky for us, Jennie says she can take it. "A lot of time has passed, and I'm a big girl," she recently said. "I'd have no problem with her coming on the show."
