Genie Francis Returns!

So we've just picked ourselves off the ground ... because we fainted (though we had great accessories on, keeping in true soap opera fashion) from sheer, unbridled excitement. Genie Francis is coming back to "General Hospital" as Laura Spencer! THE Laura Spencer. Of Luke and Laura fame.
In case you have been vacationing on Pluto for the last two decades, you know that Luke (Anthony Geary) and Laura were the biggest thing since sliced bread back in the day. Their wedding was watched by more people than any other daytime television broadcast EVER. Elizabeth Taylor even showed up (in a turban, natch) to curse them. Genie was last seen on the show in 2006, when Laura came out of her catatonic state (the reason the character exited in 2002) thanks to a new medicine. Too bad the medicine didn't have a permanent effect: She slipped back into a vegetative state, but not before remarrying her true love, Luke. So Luke was married to Tracy at the time, but it was the symbolic gesture of it that counted.
So what's the deal? Why is Laura coming back? First, because Laura Spencer is awesome. Second ... well, we don't want to spoil anything too much, but let's just say that Laura's love for her daughter, Lulu (Julie Marie Berman) is more powerful than science, medicine, earth, wind, and fire (which is a great band, BTW).
But what will she do when she finds out Luke is married to uber-wicked Tracy (Jane Elliot)?
So many questions! Regardless, look for Genie to first air on August 25.

why doesn't Laura tell Scott to drop the charges against Johnny or she'll go to the police and have him charged for the murder of Rick Webber? She could bring all this to light and he'd be on trial instead of John.

I have been a fan of GH ever since time began, we are talking b&w episodes when they were only 30 minutes long. I have loved Tony and Laura for a long time. Their love is always worth the wait. Thanks for the memories whether they be short lived or a long and great run.

Genie Francis has total brought the acting bar up! She must stay. We need GH to do the right thing and give her a big fat cotract so we can have our Laura ack. I sure hope they aren't going to be stupid and let her slip thru there hands! It was a wonderful strong scene with Laura helping LuLU face the logan ghost! KEEP LAURA. I KNOW THIS WEDDING WITH SONNY IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. I GUESS JAX AND CARLY WILL BE OVER SOON THE SCRET FROM THE LIMO IS GOING TO BE DROPPED JUST IN TIME TO SPOIL THE NUPTIALS AND END THIS SILLY KATE AND SONNY STORY LINE. After all the recent disappointments with GH (Emily, Georgie and Allen's deaths) its nice to see that GH still values the old time favorites! I REALLY REALLY hope they consider keeping Genie on as a regular this time!!

So, is Laura really back? Or is it all in Lulu's head. If you notice, nobody else has acknowledged her which yes is explained away but it all may just be part of Lulu's disorder

I was so thrilled to see that Genie Francis is back on. Please, please keep her on this time. She is an extremely talented actress and the storyline is such a refreshing change from the tired old mob storyline that everyone is sick of!

It is nice that all these postings are in favor of Genie staying at General Hospital--but the powers that be have not offered her a contract and she will soon be gone. Just when I started to get excited about watching this show, I find out her stay is very temporary. It makes me very angry how they use someone who is so important to the history of this show. It is time the fans demand Genie return full time!

Welcome back Genie. This is a serious story line and should not be handled foolishly. Your daughter Julie Berman is also an excellent actress and doing a great job in this story line. Please don't let Scotty and Laura get back together - he is also an unstabled nut like Luke. Also, the young lady that plays Maxie is beautiful and great actress. I love her part on the show. Cking

I think it's great, I just hope that this time there's a contract in place so that it's not temporary. I was very disappointed last time to find it was only temporary.

I am very excited to have the talented Genie Francis back, and I hope it is for a long, long time. What I don't want to see is the attempted return of a Luke and Laura storyline. Like Carly and Sonny, it has ran its course. I can see that they would always care/love each other due to their years together and their children, but time has changed how I view them as a couple. If she is coming around, I hope it is because of some handsome doctor in that place we had not seen yet that could become a new love of Laura's life!

I hope Genie Francis stays on the show for along time. I love watching her on GH. Thats the main reason why I watched GH. I hope she well stay alot longer . OH please keep on the show for 4years that would be nice to see her. I am glade she is finally back. Welcome Back Genie Francis. Your by far the best actress on GH. I just love u Genie Franics. I have been watching GH for at least 25 years or so. I was thrilled to hear that Genie Francis is coming back. It would be great if she didn't come & go like she does. Hopefully this will be a very long stint.

I have been watching GH since it first aired, and the "Luke and Laura" love story has always been the greatest love story ever! I'm so very happy she is back. Hope its for a long time - we have all missed you Laura!

I am trying not to care because as soon as I get reattached to seeing her back, shes gone again. Ditto to faemarsh.. isn't there some kind of balance to her real family life. What about this, she does come back permanently and she moves with luke out of town in that she maybe visits once in a while, much like the way they worked june lockhart as felicia's grandmother where once and a while she was on the show for moral support if not anything else but still an integral part of her granddaughters life. Keeping Laura in this state is ruining any positive history her and luke ever had and its hurting her whole soap based family. This is the question of the DECADE! I am so excited that Genie Francis is coming back to General Hospital! It's the best news I've had in quite a long time! I LOVE her character! I love everybody on GH, but Genie and Anthony Geary will always have the BEST CHEMISTRY on television! I want more, more, MORE of them! And whomever does the casting should be congratulated for choosing the CUTIE PIE playing Lulu Spencer! She's so adorable it's not even funny! And the oddball who cast Bradford Anderson is an absolute GENIUS!! He has the cutest, most REAL personality, and I can't WAIT to see what happens to him in the future! God, I love this show and have watched it on and off since 1970 when Jesse Brewer and Audry Hardy were on! (You guys could bring back Sean Donnelly and Tiffany and it wouldn't hurt my feelings at all!) All the old cast (Tristin Rogers on Nigh Shift...he's wonderful and I LOVE HIM, TOO! And Anna Devane is such a good character. I love her, too! Oh just bring everybody back and we will ALL BE HAPPY! I can't really talk about everybody I love on this show...it would take FOREVER! I am a huge Genie Francis/Laura Spencer fan and I for one am upset they didn't want her other than to the poodle and make no mistake that them isolating her just for LuLu is propping an emmy reel. I don't like me being a Genie fan to have waited for them to get her out the chair but give me a crumb like this yes I will watch but I'm not jumping up and down and will see it when I see it no big deal otherwise. I want to see Laura not via LuLu to make her more likable and for me as a fan who abhors LuLu this is what this is about...Not Laura.

I got very excited that Laura was returning. Then I was wondering if her return will only be an hilutionation. Lulu will be the only one to see her. Well at least Gene is going to be playing the part and not some sit it with a bad wig. Can't wait till Monday.

I was expecting more considering how ABC has been promoting her return. She is suppose to come back for a couple of weeks then in October, and that is all. Another waste, just like when they brought her back in 2006. It is about time the producers realize how many fans want to see her back on the show long term.

I'm no different than anybody else here... when a part of my family comes back for a visit I wouldn't miss it for the world! I haven't missed a show in more than 20 years, but my heart breaks when they tease me! Why always such a short visit with Laura? Her story should mirror the rest of our lives: She comes back, finds out Luke is with Tracey and runs off with Scotty... full circle. Then Luke goes nuts and sits in a chair for a while :-)

First I wanna say, I honestly have lost interest in Gh. But when you bring Luke and Laura back, you got me back. My world and schedule would evolve around making sure I did not miss an episode when Luke and Laura was on GH. So Thank you for bringing Laura back. I hope you do whatever you have to do, to keep her on the show this time. Laura makes GH exciting. And worth watching. And all this violence and corruption is one of the biggest reason I lost interest. To me Daytime soaps to me is about love and life situations not Mob crap, you need to leave that in the movies not soaps.

I'm excited about Genie Francis returning to General Hospital. I hope her return will also mean that Anthony Geary comes out of hiding. The Luke and Laura storyline has been my all time favorite. When Laura came back to us in 2006 and she and Luke remarried, I cried. Although, I have to work the day of her return the VCR will be taping!!!

I'm excited about Genie Francis returning to General Hospital. I hope her return will also mean that Anthony Geary comes out of hiding. The Luke and Laura storyline has been my all time favorite. When Laura came back to us in 2006 and she and Luke remarried, I cried. Although, I have to work the day of her return the VCR will be taping!!!

i can not begin to tell you how happy i am that GENIE FRANCIS is back on GH !! i think that the story line between her and lou lou is going to be awsome i can't wait . i really think that GH will be makeing a BIG BIG mistake to kill off sonny ( maurice bernard ) and jason ( steve burton ) because they are the show as is laura and luke . i agree that sonny needs a better story line . so why don't u have sonny get shot and put him into a coma where he meets michael and he is the one who brings michael out of his coma ! and please please put jason and elizabeth back together and futher more while u are at it please put jacks with kate and carly with sonny cuz the whole jacks and carly thing is not working and besides that carly is way more interesting when she is with sonny . now as for nichols i think that u should bring back emily but have her be her twin sister that noone knew that she had ( seeing that she was adopted ) and let her have a personality like Sam. and one last thing please give bradford anderson some better story lines like when he was at the haunted star acting like jaxs because right now his story lines are lame.

I have been watching GH since it first aired, but lost interest because of losing Laura. Unless, you watch the love story unfolded and the day-to-day saga of the Luke & Laura, you truly can’t understand the magic. And, especially watching Laura grow up in front of your eyes, through trails & tribulations, it gives you a sense of familiarity of the character, like family or friends. Whether they choose to make them a couple or not, doesn’t matter. I am so glad they are bringing Genie Francis back as Laura, I wish and hope it is permanent. If they do, I will watch it faithfully.

Today was the first time I turned My tv over to see the last five minutes of the show, and I see the preview with Laura waking up!!! GENIE FRANCIS COMING HOME FINALLY!!! I used to watch every day but now I could basically care less. I will start watching when Laura comes back but after that all bets are off. I really enjoy Alexis and Diane but I hadn't seen too much of them before I pulled the GH plug. Get a clue GH writers and bring back the romance, get rid of the mob, welcome Laura back for good and your audience will return.

Ive been an avid GH fan over 30 years. I cant tell you how bored I am already with Lulu and Robin. Lulu's constant wining and sticking her nose into Mob buisness is way old. Robins constant violin playing is more than a bit too much. Will you be writing any dialog that does not include these two stuck on thereselve brats for even a small vacation? Its going to take more than Lulu or Robin to keep my undivided attention. I feel like Im babysitting my grandkids. Soaps should be an escape, not another form of punishment.

I am very excited and overjoyed that Genie(Laura) is returning to her vacant role regardless of the reason. Luke is allowed an extended vacation two to three times a year, so why can't Genie have the same. I do hope she has lost a few pounds because I know she is conscientious of the weight gain. Regardless love her I do. I still don't understand marrying luke with anyone but laura.

I am so excited Genie Francis is returning as Laura. I hope she stays longer this time. The last time she was on it was too short. I've always loved Luke and Laura. What's up with the previews. Put them back on.

Okay, how about we see something "good" happen for a change?? It seems like every storyline going on revolves around a negative aspect. Also, it's really annoying that we've been deprived of the previews at the end of the show. Seeing that glimpse of the next day's events is what keeps fans intrigued to stay tuned. I suggest an immediate return of the GH previews (not AMC and OLTL) if you expect to maintain a high fan base and hopes for the #1 spot for Daytime Emmy next year!!

ok i love laura and luke, please keep laura on longer than before, whats up with the previews....i dont like how they are doign them...all mixed up to promote omc and oltl the preview for the show you just watched should come after not after another show

Although, it's nice to see Luke & Laura. It's also entertaining & enjoyable to see Sonny & gang do their acting as mob figures. I do understand there are alot of good samaritans out there that just have to do the right thing and just love everybody. But some of us enjoy the criminal aspects & lifestyles also. Variety is the spice of life & if you don't get into to it, don't knock what others like. The world is a mixture of things, & if it wasn't it would be very boring for those of us who have the balls to do the things you don't.

I can't wait for Genie Francis to return to General Hospital, but I do hope she stays alot longer than last time. She's an amazing actress and I think the show could build alot of great story lines around her and Luke.

OMG!!! I am so excited Laura is coming back. I noticed it on the front of a magazine at the grocery store earlier today. I stopped watching soaps after she left. She & Luke have always been awesome together! I am thrilled and will be watching on the 25th! YEAH!!!!!!

It is about time!!!! I guess I am old school but I am actually more interested in the Laura, Luke and Scotty triangle. Tracie and Luke have NEVER been convincing to me. Luke's role has seemed SO stagnet. I would love to see him get more involved in his kids lives like in AMC and OLTL where the parents are sometimes too much in their bussiness. So, I can't wait to see her back. Carlie needs to be put in the back burner, enough with going around in circles, its getting really old. Lastly I agree with the comments below. Enough with the Supranos "wanna be's" Some is ok but the story line is weak and there is too much of it. I too, turn off the set when I see that it is "mob" focused.

I'm glad Laura is coming back. But, I also hope Johnny and Lulu are kept on the show. Their predictament has me concerned that one of them might be leaving. I love their chemistry.

This is great news...maybe, just, maybe we can now have a real story with established characters we really care about instead of a bunch of stereotypical, cardboard character mobsters...give it a rest already...it's General Hospital, not the Sopranos. Amen to the comment below about Jason and Monica...It's long overdue that the Jason character should change, begin to accept some resonsibility for his current choices in a meaningful way and find another career option away from Sonny otherwise the character is going to lose all credibility and that would be a waste of Steve Burton's talent.
