She's a sultry Hollywood A-lister who could literally have any man she wants. So naturally, tabloid tongues wagged when she picked an older French billionaire -- his company owns Gucci, Yves Saint Laurent, and Balenciaga -- who was SO not L.A. And c'mon, a long-distance relationship? Who needs it?
But Salma Hayek thought she could make it work. So much so that she and her billionaire beau, Francois-Henri Pinault, decided to go ahead and have a baby together. They announced their pregnancy in March 2007, the same time they announced their engagement. While beautiful daughter Valentina Paloma arrived in September, a wedding date had yet to be set. And Salma was fond of spouting off about how she didn't really feel the "need" to wed.
"I thought I was going to have to work really hard at getting pregnant because of my age, but then I just got pregnant," she told Oprah in April. "After I got pregnant, I don't know why, [but] the [ceremony] part of it is not necessary because we have such a huge commitment for each other. I don't know that we have to go through the rituals."
