Christian Bale Arrested

A major movie star with a record breaking box office smash. He attends the flick's posh London premiere with his wife -- and is nothing if not calm, cool and collected as he walks the red carpet.

So you'd never think that he'd be turning himself in on assault charges less than 12 hours later. And you'd never think that the charges against him were filed by his mother and sister.

But that's apparently what went down this morning when "The Dark Knight" star Christian Bale turned himself in to London police on a claim of assault filed yesterday by his mother Jenny, 61, and his sister Sharon, 40, according to the Daily Telegraph.

While he denies the incident ever occured, Christian's mom and sis are claiming that he assaulted them on Sunday evening when they were visiting him at London's Dorchester Hotel, where he was staying pre-premiere. Police wouldn't confirm Bale's arrest by name, as no official charges were filed, instead stating that "A 34-year-old man attended a London Police Station on Tuesday by appointment and was arrested in connection with an allegation of assault. He remains in custody."

The policy in London, FYI, is to arrest a suspect BEFORE charging him.
