"Desperate" housewife Eva Longoria Parker and Cristian de la Fuente ("In Plain Sight," "Dancing with the Stars") joined National Council of La Raza president Janet Murguia yesterday (on Wisteria Lane, no less) to announce the nominees for this year's ALMA Awards. Established in 1995, the awards honor the achievement of Latinos in television, music, and film.
"Ugly Betty" was singled out for Outstanding Performance of a Latino/a-led Ensemble in a Television Series (a special achievement given to one clique a year). The show received several other noms, including Outstanding Writing for a Television Series (Silvio Horta) and Outstanding Director of a Television Series (Linda Mendoza).
Eva may have taken herself out of contention for an award -- she's hosting and executive-producing the show again this year -- but "Desperate Housewives" scored multiple nominations, including Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Television Series (Ricardo Chavira) and Outstanding Director of a Television Series (Jay Torres). Ricardo will face off against his ABC compatriot, "Lost"'s Jorge Garcia. Meanwhile, Dania Ramirez ("Heroes") and Sara Ramirez ("Grey's Anatomy") will duke it out for Outstanding Actress in a Drama Television Series.
