"Private Practice" Season 2 Scoop!

Things are heating up at "Private Practice," in and out of the medical office.

The "Grey's Anatomy" spinoff returns for its second season October 1, and according to star Kate Walsh (Addison), "There's a lot of conflict and still the kind of mad and sick balance of comedy and drama that Shonda Rhimes is such an expert at delivering. You'll see Addison dating and everyone struggling personally," she revealed during the Television Critics Association press tour. "We're honing in on the ethical dramas that our doctors have to face," added Shonda.

The romantic stakes are high, too. David Sutcliffe will recur as Officer Nelson, the hot SWAT cop who caught Addison's eye last season. "It's really fun to see this total other side of her come out that we never saw. We've never seen Addison into someone or someone that likes her back," said Kate. But fellow doc Pete (Tim Daly) is still in the picture. "We'll be together, apart, together, apart," predicted Tim. "I think that wondering what is going to happen is part of the fun."
