Beth Ehlers Begins!

Hooray! Beth Ehlers, the longtime "Guiding Light" superstar is beginning her run on "All My Children" today. And we mean "run," literally: The first time we see Beth's character, Taylor, she's jogging in the park. Who does she encounter? None other than Jake Martin, played by Ricky Paull Goldin.

So we're sure most of you already know, but Ricky and Beth were one of THE couples on "Guiding Light" as Gus and Harley. We're talking Josh-Reva super-couple status. They have this great chemistry together that's sort of playful and fun. They're like that couple that lives next door to you who you like to BBQ with. Except they're way hotter, and he doesn't have a pot belly.

What to expect from Taylor? Well, she's a soldier who's in town to give her buddy Frankie (Cornelius Smith, Jr.) a medal. Taylor's totally military. She truly believes in the institution and supports their endeavors. As for Jake, well, he just came back from charity work in the Sudan. He saw how conflict can ravage a region firsthand. Therefore, he's not so into military conflict. You smell the fighting? We smell the chemistry.

BTW, Taylor's last name was originally going to be McBride, as we reported earlier. But it's now been changed to Thompson. Hey, remember how Taylor McBride was the name of Lisa Rinna's character on "Melrose Place"? (Which, BTW part II, "AMC" head writer Chuck Pratt also wrote.) She was a crazy witch! We loved when she used to beat herself up with a door and make Michael punch her so she could make Peter think he was beating her in "rage epilepsy" blackouts.

We talked to Beth about her new role. Read our chat with her.

What do you think is in store for Taylor?

I am loving Beth Ehlers' presence on AMC, She is refreshingly a fine actress, I am sure she is going to make some shake ups for Jake and Amanda's pairing on the show... But at the same time, Her role as Taylor could get AMC fans' respect for the role she is playing... Ehlers is one of the finest daytime actresses, I am sure GL will do great recasting her role as Harley... Ehlers is here to stay on AMC!!!

I am a big supporter of AMC's decision to bring Ehlers on the show and with the cool back-story she has with this character will make the actress and the character shine too. I'm sorry she left Gl, because i adored "Harley" ,, it's a shame near the end the writers ruined her character . I don't blame the actress for leaving "GL" , i give her credit . I'm surprised she never left sooner. Cbs lost a talented actress and ABC has rescued her from limbo . Welcome back to the small screen Beth.. We are rooting for you and Gush to get what u deserve , love and happiness with that taste of Drama..lol

i have no problem w/ Beth Ehlers...she's an okay actress. however, i wasn't too interested in Harley on GL and never saw the chem between her/RPG as GUSH. furthermore, i can do w/o all the hype around her and the pimping [promo telling me this IS A LOVE STORY off the bat so much for slow burn and mystery. also the false statement of her/Ricky being Emmy winners] of GUSH2 (and yes it is that no matter what TPTB are saying because it's the main reason she was brought on...to recreate that chem, coupling or something close to it on AMC). i don't know about anyone else, but i like to get to know the characters first...their establishment on canvas w/o knowing the agenda behind it all...banking on lightning striking twice. BIG mistake IMO. first off, some don't even know them from GL and are wondering, huh? what makes them so important? and then there's the fact that this (taking a "popular" pair from another show and trying to recreate it on another) has been tried before and always seems to fail. anyways w/ all that said i welcome her to AMC and hope the best in terms of the results. although i wish they would bring back vet actors/known characters (familiar faces..the ones who populated the roles) w/ history already like Cady/Dix, VI/David, and/or Julia B./Brooke to name a few, more...instead of invest in more newbies. I didn't like Ehlers on Guiding Light. She was a air hog and spoke annoying baby talk to much. Now she will be the new writer's pet and a air hog too. I wish she stayed at Guiding Light.
