The greatest yearly "Geek Prom" of all time took place over the weekend, and SOAPnet.com was there! We were lucky enough to score awesome seats for the "Heroes" panel at the 2008 Comic Con -- and as such, we have all the show scoop that's fit to print.
Executive producer (and comic book vet) Jeph Loeb walked on stage to screams from the 6,500 people who had waited hours for the panel -- many of whom had slept on the concrete outside the San Diego Convention Center to be first in line. The panel's initial visual treats were the final "webisode" as well as a video campaign for the two potential new heroes of the online action series. Fans will be given a chance to vote for their favorite. If you want to cast your own vote, you can do so right here!
Once the lights came back on, Jeph and show creator Tim Kring surprised the crowd by bringing the ENTIRE "Heroes" cast out to join them on stage. People positively lost their minds! But the surprises didn't stop there; Tim pulled out a DVD, held it high in the air, and announced a screening of the season premiere.
The cast exited the stage for the episode, and those of us who could tear our eyes away from the action on screen saw Tim and Jeph watching US watching the episode. Their reaction to the fans' response was endearing, to say the least. When the show was over, the cast returned -- and in typical Comic Con fashion, they opened up the mic to fan questions.
All in all, it was an amazing experience ... and well worth the wait to get in!
We don't believe in spoilers, but here are a few hints we CAN give you about the upcoming season. "Save ourselves, Save the world" will be an important concept, and angels come into play. In one of the scariest moments of the premiere, Sylar asks Claire, "How many angels can dance on the head of a pin?" We don't have that answer, but the moment was totes creepy. There's also some amazing stuff with our absolute favorite "Heroes" hottie, Dr. Suresh (Sendhil Ramamurthy). Just take our word for it, and make sure you watch "Heroes" when it returns to NBC on September 22.
