Get Gorgeous: The Brows Have It

Big brows are back. Blame it on Brooke Shields -- aka feisty Wendy Healy from "Lipstick Jungle" -- whose eyebrows have always been quite distinctive. Back in her days as Susan Keane on the series "Suddenly Susan," Brooke sported even thicker brows, which paired perfectly with her big, tousled mane (it was the '90s, after all). Now the rest of the fashion world has caught on, with big-browed models like Hilary Rhoda and Ali Michael taking center stage during fashion weeks in Paris and New York. Also check out Miss LiLo on the cover of this month's Harper's Bazaar, where she shows off super-defined brows with smoky eyes and a clean face.
The thick brow just screams for the right makeup to match, and runway artists went one of two ways. Some looked to Andy Warhol's Factory era and its ultimate muse, Edie Sedgwick, for smoky eyes and pale, bare lips. Others kept the face clean save for an ultra-bright lipstick, like at Dsquared, where dark brows were paired with a creamy red lip in the vein of classic Hollywood starlets. Either way, it's time to ease up on that ouch-inducing tweezing, and let your brows grow bold.
Are big brows for you? Or can you just not resist the urge to pluck, pluck, pluck?
