Whether your tastes run to luxury or cheap chic, it's easier than ever to get the celebrity look. Let's start with the high-end lines, shall we?
Kate Moss/Topshop: The world's most famous supermodel packages her iconic style in a set of capsule collections for the British high-street retailer. Most of the designs, from tank top to skinny jean to gladiator sandal, are inspired by pieces from her own closet, and Kate herself serves as the fit model (that'll work for about three of us, right?). Her new Spring/Summer collection, which just launched on the Topshop website last week, includes drool-worthy floral print frocks and plenty of strappy minidresses in typical Kate style. Also in the mix: a playful star-print blouse that channels the current Yves Saint Laurent Spring collection ... for a mere fraction of the price.
Elizabeth and James: Building on the success of their first upscale line, "The Row," the ubiquitous Olsen twins launched a "contemporary sportswear line" last year called Elizabeth and James (it's named after their younger sister and older brother). But a slinky French lace minidress and a white goat (!) fur jacket, both sporting hefty price tags, are more Fendi than Juicy. You can also find some more casual pieces, like a super-soft grey cashmere cardigan and slim-fitting black cropped pants. Available online at Saks.com or Neimanmarcus.com.
Chloe Sevigny/Opening Ceremony: "Big Love" star and '90s fashion muse Chloe Sevigny teams up with avant-garde New York boutique Opening Ceremony for this eclectic collection. A quirky-cool bodysuit-and-turban look channels Season 1 Carrie Bradshaw, while high-waisted plaid skinny jeans would make any hipster happy. And since Opening Ceremony doesn't sell online, Barneys.com makes it easy for you to snatch up some less adventurous pieces, like a body-conscious blazer, a boxy grey mini, and a little black dress with a lacey sweetheart neckline.
Cheap Chic
Of course, some celebs make their designs more available, which means you can snap up simple and chic looks at mere two-digit price tags. Feast your eyes ....
Bitten by Sarah Jessica Parker: As TV's most democratic fashionista, Carrie Bradshaw's been known to throw in a little J. Crew with her McQueen, so she'd certainly feel comfy in SJP's affordable line. Available exclusively at Steve and Barry's stores, pieces are priced at $19.98 or less, so don't expect cocktail dresses or elaborate blouses. Instead, look for basics like lounge-y cropped trousers, black boy briefs, and plaid PJ shorts. For Steve and Barry's locations, visit steveandbarrys.com.
Susan Lucci for Home Shopping Network: The glamorous Erica Kane of "All My Children" turns up the heat for her jewelry and fashion line, which, unsurprisingly, is made up of lace camisoles, satin slips, and drape-y little blouses that look both sexy and steamy. Best of all, a golden charmeuse gown trimmed with black lace at all the appropriate places is going for only $19.90. Available online at hsn.com.
Jovovich-Hawke for Target: Target's GO International collection is known for trendy designer collaborations at very reasonable prices. Now, actress/model-turned-designer Milla Jovovich, ("Resident Evil," "The Fifth Element," and TV's "Married with Children") is giving it a go. Jovovich and BFF Carmen Hawke churned out less expensive versions of their upscale line for the Target collaboration, which translated to sunny, L.A-style frocks perfect for cruising down Sunset Boulevard. Get them before they're gone at target.com.
And if you want to pay a couple hundred for jersey and velour babydoll dresses, Lauren Conrad of "The Hills" just launched her own clothing line on the LA Fashion Week runways. We hear there's a jewelry deal in the works, but let's hope she leaves the big plastic headbands back on the beach.
We also hear that Rachel Bilson, otherwise known as gossipy Summer on "The OC," just closed a deal with DKNY to design a capsule collection of easy casuals ranging from $19.50 to $49.50. The line, called "Edie Rose," is set to hit stores in September. Stay tuned.
