Born: Danville, Vermont DOB: October 1, 1963 Sign: Libra

Personal: Beth is one of those rare stars who leaves the glitz and glamour of show business at work. She doesn't even wear makeup on her days off, and she prefers skiing to making the scene. In fact, she and hubby Roy even moonlight as ski instructors. The couple -- and son Lucas -- live up the Hudson River from NYC in a 1904 Colonial, which is a showcase for Beth's favorite hobbies: home renovation and decorating. Beth's also a writer. Her 2002 novel, "Lorelei's Guiding Light, an Intimate Diary," reveals the Mexican adventures of Beth Raines's alter ego, Lorelei.

Professional: A natural athlete and gifted dancer, Beth trained at the American Ballet Theatre in New York before switching to theater at NYU. Her first film role was in the Christopher Guest comedy "Best Shots" with Kevin Bacon. She had guest spots on "Silk Stalkings" and in a "Columbo" TV movie before landing her "Guiding Light" role as Beth Raines in 1994.

When she's not busy on "GL," Beth stays sharp in the theater, where she's starred in productions of "The Taming of the Shrew," "Miss Julie," "Crimes of the Heart," and "The Heidi Chronicles."

Did You Know? Beth can walk up stairs on her HANDS! Why she chooses to do this remains a mystery.
