ABOUT CITY YEAR: City Year is a nonprofit organization built on the belief that young people can change the world. As tutors, mentors and role models, City Year's diverse young leaders make a difference in the lives of children and transform schools and neighborhoods across the United States and in South Africa. Every 26 seconds a student drops out of high school in America, and this dropout crisis requires innovative solutions. Corps members dedicate themselves to helping students and schools succeed with a focus on improving attendance, behavior and coursework. City Year also engages community members, corporate employees and students in high-impact community service events to improve educational, recreational and residential facilities supporting youth and families.
